Slept really good last night....not sure if it was that I was tired or the wine, cheese and cracker.
I did decide to go back to the Custer House and the US Calvary Museum, so I was out of the campground by 7:30 am so I could get there when it opened at 8:00 am. Had a beautiful sunrise:
I did get there but had to go through a check point at Fort Riley. When I got to the museum there was a construction fence around the building and no one was around. I stopped a lady in a parking lot and asked her about it.....she said it was a holiday and they were closed......puff.....another hour wasted. But I did find out since I was traveling East at Sunrise that I need a sun blocker extension for my sun visor. God has given me such good weather that it was very clear, and while the sunrise was initially beautiful, it got to be very bright. Even blessings can sometimes be a challenge......i.e., your children....... I figure God was telling me that my return trip is going to be into the sun so he just wanted me to be prepared.
Made it to Seibert, CO but the winds made it a bit of a challenge. I didn't realize that they will actually close the highway when the winds get too high. There were several places where the signs said that if the lights were flashing that you have to get off at the exit. They even have barriers that go across the road for those who can't read or ignore the signs. Of course they don't say anything about when you can get back on....but we were blessed in that the winds were not TOO strong.
Except for the winds the rest of the trip to Shady Grove Campground in Seibert was uneventful. I did meet another older couple because they were stopping at the same rest areas where I stopped.
Trying to write you. Sis

DeleteWell nothing broke or got lost so it sounds like things are improving. Sorry Columbus Day got in the way of the tour. Maybe you can hit it on the way back? All is well here but you were missed at Church on Sunday. Glad you were able to keep the camper between the lines. Have a good night sleep and an easy travel day tomorrow. Love ya.
