The day of departure finally came after all the preparations. The excitement has reach up to activity level with my departure this morning at about 9:15. Took me a little longer to get going than I thought it would because I kept thinking of things I should take. It is one thing to go camping for a weekend or even a week, but 2 1/2 weeks takes it to a new level.
Of course God gave me the first challenge when I lost the keys to the camper......puff.....they just disappeared. I looked everywhere and couldn't find them anywhere......and still haven't found them. I did have a back-up set of keys so that is what I am using, and you know what that means........I am up the proverbial creek if I lose them........ This is where trusting God comes into play......I kind of talked with him about it on my way here. He keeps telling me just to trust him and everything will be alright.....He said to remember Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work for the good of those who love him,.......". Of course, it is Sunday so there are no locksmiths open so I am doing what I can do and trusting him that it will work for good.....
It really has been a wonderful trip so far. Jesus has shown me that even the rolling hills of Missouri and flat lands of Kansas they are still beautiful works of his hands. You can see he is enjoying showing his creation to me.
So, when I look at it all through his eyes the beauty shows though.
I did pass up Custer's House and US Calvary Museum because they were closing soon, so now I have to decide if I want to go back 15 miles to see them tomorrow morning.
I did have another surprise when I got to the campground. I have to go back a few days.....I was packing and noticed that the window by the cab-over bed was open......well, I kind of slammed it shut so it would stay closed.....not knowing my 'strength' the window shattered. That begin a 3 hour clean up of glass, both outside and inside. I bought a piece of plastic and covered the window using duct tape to fasten it to the camper. Well I checked it at my fist stop it looked good....hadn't come lose at all. However, when I got to the campground, it was....puff....gone. Since no one yelled at me or gave me the 'salute', I am guessing it didn't hit a car. So I went down to Dollar General (Remember I am in a Chapman, KS...not much to choose from), and they had a plastic drop cloth. I covered the screen with it and am again trusting God to keep the rain out.....of course he might be saying to 'trust me'....there is not going to be any rain.........
Please feel free to leave a comment if you like.....I will let you know more tomorrow when, God willing, I will get to Shady Grove Campground in Seibert, Colorado.
Well you did want an adventure! I am not sure looking for keys or a new camper window was what you had in mind. Sounds like you are having a great time none the less. Thanks for the posting and let’s pray there are no more problems with Wayne’s Covered Wagon. :)
