Mississippi River North (Day 4 - Sep 30, 2020)

Got up pretty early and the wind was still blowing, so I just decided to just have some cereal and take off.  The trip was really pretty nice except for the wind again, and rain into some rain showers as well.  But going right along the Mississippi was really nice.

Really nice surprise when Pastor Mike called from the Bible class this morning just to see how things were going.  Really enjoyed the conversation but did make me miss the class.

Did get to see God changing the trees to the fall colors and managed to get a few pictures.

Went through/around Minneapolis/St Paul so had to deal with a lot of traffic but not too bad...I sure thank God for Google Maps.....BTW...I downloaded the maps just incase I lost internet again...lesson learned...I hope.

Got to Camp Ripley about 2:30 in the afternoon because I drove slower due to the strong head winds...Just seems like I can't get away from them.....Maybe God's way of slowing me down....
This is really a nice military camp which is right on the Mississippi but can't see the river from the camp because of all the tall pine trees.  There is a trail/road that goes along the Mississippi.

They have a military museum here that I want through.  Turns out there is rich history here as it used to be Fort Ripley established in the 1800s to fight the indian wars...primarily the Dakotas.  The museum had displays from the Civil Way and every conflict up to today.  They have a huge outdoor display of tanks, helicopters, and other military equipment. They even had QRs that you could use to watch videos about the display or equipment.  I could have spent a lot more time but it was getting late so left to beat a thunderstorm moving in....I was on my trike.  Got a few pictures:

Hard to believe that I was 7 years old when the Air Force was formed

They also offer free firewood so I got some and had a campfire late at night before going to bed.  Really nice, but got a little lonely remembering our campfires with family and the church campers.

  1. This looks beautiful, love the changing colors! How great for your Bible class to check on you. Guess Pastor missed you giving him a hard time :)

That's a nice museum - looks very well done. Sounds like you're having a great trip. Drive safe! We miss you and love you!
