Found a new place to eat yesterday, called Jackie B. Goode Uptown Cafe, and it was really good. They had some live entertainment as well....a guy that sang Elvis songs and really sounded like him. Turns out the owner of the campground's husband was also an Elvis impersonator/singer and he really looked like him too. I had a chicken fried steak that was bigger than anything I had ever seen before, in fact, I even had to take a picture of it.
Taking pictures of my food is not something I do, but I just couldn't resist. I only ate about 2/3 of it.....seems like I am going to hate getting on the scale when I get back home.,
Left early this morning for the Branson landing, downtown. I had gotten a ticket for a show which was a tribute to the Platters, at the Hot Hits Theater. The campground owner got the tickets for me and that is when I found out it was downtown.....a little to far with the sidewalks questionable...I decided to drive the RV there. She called and found out there was a free parking lot a block from the theater. So I unhooked and drove down only to find out they didn't allow RVs in the parking lot. I ended up driving to another big parking block a lot farther away and parked there. I love Google Maps. So I definitely got my steps in today. There were 3 guys that performed and they were pretty good. It was a very small theater and social distancing even made it smaller:
Of course the fact that there were only 6 of us attending, they had a hard time getting the audience participating.
Since I got down to the Landing early I had plenty of time to find a parking lot, so I walked around but since it was only 8:00 am there was not much open. I walked by a barber shop and got a hair cut and they told me about a couple restaurants open so I had breakfast. By that time to was 9:30 and the show started at 10:00. Turned out to be a nice morning afterall.
Got the camper back and set up again by 12:30 and the next show started at 2:00 pm and it is within scooter distance. I rode to the theater and parked right by the front door.....I just love being old and riding up on my scooter and asking if I can park it here. Could they say anything to an old man on a scooter but sure....it is alright.
Well, it was the Hughs Family Musical Theater. They are all one family and they are a HUGE family. They are four brothers and their wives and children. One family was 15 children and another 10 children. The smallest one had 3 children,
The biggest thing is that they are all very, very talented. They sang and many played the violin really good. One little girl about 8 years old sang like an adult. The whole show was wonderful. The best show of all. BTW.....every show was done with social distancing.
Campground looks wonderful!! Glad you're enjoying the shows and the food!! Miss you, sending hugs!! Keep Posting!
ReplyDeleteThat chicken fried steak looks amazing. Apparently you got the family platter.;) Only you would go to Branson for a hair cut. Sounds like it was fun though along with the shows. The six person audience show looked very personal. If we were there with you we could have doubled the crowed size for the shows!
ReplyDeleteI bet you will sleep well tonight with all that walking. Hopefully we will get to join you in Branson someday. I imagine they do not have any protests in Branson. I envy you that.
Looks wonderful! We love the landing, such a nice area. Shows look like fun, but I'm surprised you didn't get the audience participating :)
